Horse Racing Enthusiasts Flock to Saratoga
Every year, horse racing fans gather in Saratoga for exciting events and celebrations. This year, the Adelphi will have its official Grand Reopening on July 2, featuring special speakers, dignitaries, and tours.
The event will coincide with the Saratoga Race Course hosting its first-ever July 4th Racing Festival. From July 3-6, the track will feature several major stakes races, including the Belmont Derby on July 4 and the Belmont Oaks Invitational on July 5.
Just like the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival, Saratoga Springs is expected to be bustling during this festival.
The Adelphi Hotel has undergone a major transformation, expanding guest rooms from 32 to 65. The rooms now feature modern bathrooms and radiant-heated floors for extra comfort. The property also includes luxury condominiums, an upgraded lobby, a ballroom, and a spa.
Both residents and guests enjoy services such as concierge, housekeeping, and on-site dining with restaurants like Salt & Char and Morrissey’s. The hotel also offers business and fitness amenities for convenience.
Outside, the historic Adelphi Hotel Gardens have been reimagined. They now offer a peaceful space that blends privacy, beauty, and historic storytelling—a perfect retreat from the busy Broadway nearby.
Since opening in 1877, The Adelphi has welcomed socialites, politicians, and sports stars. Its guestbook includes famous names, from top jockeys to racing elites. During restoration, historic elements were uncovered, including architectural relics and tales of possible underground tunnels linking the hotel to the Saratoga National Bank and Congress Park Casino. While these stories remain unconfirmed, they add to the hotel’s unique time capsule charm.
Today, The Adelphi Hotel continues to attract tastemakers and travelers, proving its legacy is alive and thriving—more than just a historic site, it’s a living experience.
Guests are treated to luxurious amenities throughout the hotel.
Already a MICHELIN Key hotel, renovations and enhancements include:
Beautiful new guest rooms in the historic Rip Van Dam building, now connected to the Adelphi.
A state-of-the-art kitchen, now serving both their farm-to-table steakhouse, Salt & Char, and Morrissey’s Lounge & Bistro, improving culinary innovation and service.
Upgraded guest amenities, preserving the hotel’s historic character while introducing contemporary luxuries.
A newly designed lobby that enhances the arrival experience with warmth and sophistication.
A reimagined gardens with a new three-season pergola, harking back to the hotel’s garden of the 19th century when guests would spend their time mingling, enjoying the “water cure” of the nearby springs, and socializing well into the early hours of the morning.
Colorful flowers captivate discerning guests upon arrival.
Michael Dubb, co-owner of The Adelphi Hotel, explained the significance of the renovation and expansion.
The Adelphi sits on prime real estate in downtown Saratoga Springs, a city rich in culture and history. When the Rip Van Dam property next door became available in 2019, my business partner Larry Roth and I saw a unique opportunity to create something extraordinary.
We transformed the hotel and the corner of Broadway and Washington Street by connecting the two buildings. We added 79 luxury condominiums and expanded the hotel rooms from 32 to 65. Now, residents and guests enjoy a five-star lifestyle with access to world-class amenities.
Our upgrades include an expanded lobby, a larger indoor/outdoor event space, a full-service spa and salon, a high-end fitness center, a game room, and a business lounge. The Adelphi offers a level of hospitality and luxury that is unmatched in the region.
The outdoor gardens connecting to the ballroom were completely redesigned with stone flooring, a retractable roof, fire pits, and lounge seating. The ballroom now holds up to 225 guests and hosts weddings, private events, and live music.
This project was about more than just expanding space—it was about elevating the Adelphi brand and redefining guest experiences. The $90 million investment revitalized not only the hotel but also the downtown Saratoga Springs area. We installed heated sidewalks, redesigned landscaping, and breathed new life into the city center.
Preserving the hotel’s historic character was a priority. With a personal connection to Saratoga spanning over 50 years, restoring and enhancing this 175-year-old landmark was deeply meaningful. This was about honoring a legacy while creating something exceptional for the future.

The guest rooms are a standout. They are spacious, filled with natural light and designed with comfort and sophistication in mind. Features like heated hardwood floors, oversized bathrooms and high-end finishes create a level of luxury that exceeds what many well-known luxury hotels offer.
Dining at The Adelphi is just as impressive. Salt & Char serves some of the finest steaks I’ve ever had, and Morrissey’s offers an elevated American bistro experience. We also added a private dining room at Salt & Char that seats 25 guests, perfect for intimate gatherings. Every part of the hotel reflects a commitment to excellence and an experience that feels both exclusive and welcoming.
