Disney Cruise Line Raises Gratuity Rates

Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line (DCL) quietly raised its recommended
gratuity rates, jumping from $14.50 per person, per day to $16.
First reported by The
Street, DCL also revealed that cruise passengers in concierge staterooms
and suites will now be forced to pay $27.25 per person, per day, an increase
from the $23.50 gratuity rate previously listed.
DCL’s website states that travelers can pay the gratuities
ahead of time or they can be added to their onboard accounts. The cruise line
said the charges are “distributed among crew members,” and it is “customary to
give gratuities in recognition of exceptional service, which you’ll receive in
abundance aboard the ship.”
Disney Cruise Line previously updated its gratuity rates in July
2022.
DCL isn’t the only cruise line making recent changes, as Royal
Caribbean International announced that automatic service gratuity rates increased
by more
than 10 percent in November.
Earlier this month, DCL officials unveiled new details about
its fleet
expansion, which includes four new ships that join its lineup between 2027
and 2031. The expansion includes three vessels in a completely new ship class
and a fourth addition to the existing Wish class.
