Sava Cycle Route: The Next EuroVelo Adventure (2026–2029)

Imagine cycling 1,136 km from the Alpine peaks of Slovenia to the urban pulse of Belgrade — through Triglav National Park, Lake Bled, Zagreb’s cobblestone streets, and wetlands teeming with storks in Čigoć. That’s the Sava Cycle Route: a new frontier in sustainable travel.

If approved by the European Cyclists’ Federation, this route will become EuroVelo 18 — the first EuroVelo trail in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the 19th across Europe. Official integration is expected by 2029.

The journey connects three capitals — Ljubljana, Zagreb, and Belgrade — and links with existing EuroVelo routes: EV9, EV6, EV11, and EV13. Along the way, you’ll pass Ramsar wetlands, rural villages like Bardača and Lonjsko Polje, and historic towns shaped by centuries of river trade.
