Glass Cabins at Tu Tu' Tun Lodge: Your Rogue River Serenity
Begin your journey in Medford, Oregon, where summer temperatures hover near 90°F. Travel southwest along Route 199, the Redwood Highway, winding through majestic redwood forests, hidden caves, and charming country stores. As you near Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge, just eight miles from the Pacific coast, the air cools to a comfortable 70°F. Nestled along the Rogue River, this verdant retreat offers the perfect escape from late summer heat.
A Legacy of Warmth
Since its opening in 1970, Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge has been a family-run haven, named after the Tututni Native Americans who called this land “Tu Tu’ Tun,” meaning “people of the place by the water.” The lodge’s intimate, homey atmosphere persists through generations. In 2024, a major renovation introduced glass cabins with 360-degree views, a luxurious Hive + Honey Spa, and a new culinary direction under Chef Derek Piva, formerly of STARR Restaurants and New York’s The Musket Room.
Stunning Glass Cabins
Crafted in collaboration with Estonia’s ÖÖD mirror house company, the 12 glass cabins redefine luxury with sleek interiors and panoramic views of the Rogue River, mountain peaks, or starry skies reflected in mirrored walls. Designed for two, these private cabins—available as Mountain View, Creekside, or Riverfront—offer seclusion through thoughtful placement. Each includes a private patio with a fire pit and outdoor soaking tub, merging comfort with nature.
Rustic Lodge Rooms
The lodge’s 40 rooms, adorned in minimalist rustic style, span the Main Lodge, Guest Lodge, and four guest houses, two newly added for families or groups. Every room boasts uninterrupted views of the Rogue River, ensuring a tranquil stay.
Thrilling Outdoor Adventures
The Rogue River and its wild surroundings are the heart of the experience. Speed down the river with Jerry’s Rogue Jets or glide gently by kayak, perhaps encountering Sheila, the local harbor seal. Flyfish for steelhead and salmon, hike coastal trails with sweeping Pacific Ocean views, or spot whales seasonally. Golfers can enjoy world-class courses like Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, an hour north. Unwind at the Hive + Honey Spa with river-inspired massages, basalt stone rituals, forest wraps, honey facials, or a wood-burning sauna session.
Wilderness-to-Table Cuisine
Chef Piva’s menu draws from local ranchers, farmers, and the lodge’s garden, delivering earthy flavors. Indulge in Raddichio and Citrus Salad with stracciatella, mint, honey, and dukkah; Seared Salmon with Green Curry and Thai Herbs; Bone-In Pork Loin with Cannellini, Chorizo, and Cippolini Onions; Tagliatelle al Limone; or a 40-day-aged 20-ounce Delmonico Steak. These dishes fuel guests after active days.
As night falls, especially on weekends, settle by the river with wine or tea and a cookie, stargazing in this dark sky sanctuary. Share stories with fellow travelers, but bring a sweater for the cool evenings.
