Royal Sonesta Kauai Resort Renovations
The Royal Sonesta Kauai Resort has recently completed a years-long renovation, offering refreshed rooms, new restaurants, and improved common areas.
Before becoming the Royal Sonesta Kauaʻi Resort, the property had a rich history under various names and owners. Originally built in 1960 as the Kauaʻi Surf Hotel, it was rebranded in 1987 as the Westin Kaua‘i, then rebuilt in 1995 as the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort. In the spring of 2021, Sonesta took over operations.

New Local Farm Tour at Lydgate Farms
Lydgate Farms now offers a hands-on Honey Farm & Tasting Tour, where visitors get an up-close look at beekeeping. Participants don full bee suits to see the honey production process from hive to jar. The tour also includes honey tastings, featuring fresh honeycomb straight from the source.

Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge Lookout
The Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge Lookout is now open to the public. Located on a 5.4-acre site, it offers panoramic views of Hanalei Valley, Hanalei Bay, and the lush wetlands. There are no reservations or entry fees, making it a perfect spot for a scenic view or family photo. Wildlife photographers and birdwatchers will especially enjoy the area.
Wai Koa Loop Trail Reopens
The Wai Koa Loop Trail has reopened at Anaina Hou Community Park. This four-mile trail takes you through a mahogany forest and leads to the historic Kīlauea Stone Dam. It’s a serene walk, ideal for families. Along the way, you’ll experience forests, historic ruins, and small waterfalls.
