The World’s 50 Best Beaches For 2025, According To A New Report

Discover the Top Beaches of 2025 with The World’s 50 Best Beaches list. This highly anticipated ranking is curated based on votes from over 1,000 travel professionals and influencers who know coastlines around the globe best.

The selection process considers eight key criteria: unique features, wildlife, untouched nature, natural sounds, ease of water entry, calm waters, lack of crowds, and overall scenic beauty.

According to Tine Holst, cofounder of the list, the essence of a great beach lies in natural beauty, tranquility, and emotional impact. It’s not just about how a beach looks, but how it makes you feel—peaceful, awe-inspired, and connected to nature.

For 2025, the top spot goes to Cala Goloritzé in Sardinia, Italy. This breathtaking coastline is surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs and exudes an almost spiritual charm.

Cala Goloritzé is a protected natural monument, and access is limited—either by a scenic hike, with limited tickets sold daily, or by swimming from a boat anchored 656 feet away. These measures help preserve its raw beauty and maintain its tranquility, making it a truly special spot.

Environmental conservation was a key factor in the list’s creation. Beaches that actively work to limit overcrowding and protect natural ecosystems tend to be favored by voters.

If you’re dreaming of a peaceful, untouched beach experience, why not consider visiting Fteri Beach on the island of Kefalonia in Greece? Walking along its pristine shoreline offers an unforgettable escape into nature’s serenity.

Book your dream vacation now with MWR LIFE and discover your own slice of paradise at Fteri Beach. Experience beauty, tranquility, and the essence of genuine nature—just like the world’s top-rated beaches for 2025.

Cala Gabbiani Beach in Sardinia, Italy — named the best beach for 2025. This stunning coastline stands out for its natural beauty and pristine environment.

In second place is Entalula Beach in Palawan, Philippines. It’s a hidden paradise, only reachable by boat. The editors describe it as a place less crowded than nearby beaches, offering a perfect escape to immersive nature and tranquility.

Ranking third is Bang Bao Beach on Koh Kood island, Thailand. This beach feels like a world apart from busy tourist spots like Phuket. Its charm lies in a nearby fishing village, where visitors can walk along a wooden pier and enjoy fresh seafood. The beach is framed by lush jungle and has clear, shallow waters, ideal for swimming.

Fourth on the list is Fteri Beach in Greece, a secluded cove on Kefalonia island. Access is only by boat or a steep hike, making it an exclusive, peaceful hideaway.

If you’re searching for remote, untouched beaches, these spots are perfect. Consider visiting Fteri Beach on Kefalonia for your next escape and experience the beauty of nature away from the crowds.

Crystal clear lagoon waters on the atoll of Fakarava, French Polynesia.

PK9 Beach—set within the UNESCO-protected Fakarava atoll in French Polynesia—rounds out the top five. The editors of the report love its “simple, serene beach perfection,” plus its coral reefs loaded with tropical fish.

Only one U.S. beach made the 50 best list this year: Siesta Beach on Siesta Key, which ranked at number 42.

The editors called out its family-friendly vibe, lack of large-scale development and powdery sand.

Made up of 99% pure quartz, the sand stays cool even in the summer heat.

“Often dubbed the ‘world’s finest, whitest sand,’ Siesta Beach is a standout thanks to its gentle slope, calm waters and pristine surroundings,” wrote the editors.

Siesta Key, Florida—the best beach in the U.S.

Some beaches made the list due to their unique vibe. At number 13 is Pink Beach in Indonesia’s Komodo National Park—the sand is literally pink thanks to crushed red coral mixed in with the white grains.

The Caribbean region came in strong this year—almost a dozen beaches made the list.

Canto de la Playa in the Dominican Republic ranked as the top beach in the region—and number six overall.

The authors of the report called this beach set on Saona island “one of the Caribbean’s best-kept secrets.”

Meanwhile, perennial favorite Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos claimed the number 10 spot.

“It remains a textbook example of Caribbean beauty,” the report noted. Stretching for miles along the coast of Providenciales, the beach has soft, powdery white sand and vivid turquoise waters, protected by a coral reef about a mile offshore.

The countries with the most beaches on the list this year? Greece and Australia, which had three beaches each.

Several new destinations broke onto the list this year, including Madagascar, Yemen, Antigua & Barbuda, Sri Lanka, Costa Rica, Tanzania, France, Ireland and the Maldives, as well as overseas territories American Samoa, the British Virgin Islands and Bonaire.

“We’re incredibly excited to have so many new and truly unique destinations featured on this year’s list. This is the highest number of new countries we have included in a release so far,” says Holst.

Holst says there were some surprises, too. “We are surprised with how many unique and lesser-known beaches beat out some beaches which have been included regularly on our lists in the past—like Tulum in the Riviera Maya, Iceland’s beaches, as well as Hawaii not having a beach included this year,” she says.

And if you want to see the best of all time, you can check out the hall of fame with winners from past lists, including Trunk Bay in St. John (USVI), Cala Mariolu in Italy, Lucky Bay in Australia, Navagio Beach in Greece, Whitehaven Beach in Australia, Maya Bay in Thailand, Hidden Beach in the Philippines and Honolu Beach in Hawaii.
